Hey guys :)
Got some new spydies in today. A new Military (my first) and my new T-mag. AWESOME!! All of my folders (except ZT 301) are spydies. I've owned many and I think i'm officially in love with Spyderco haha! Anyways, I took the Milie out of the package and tried to open it with my thumb, it didn't open, It thought it was broke! Upon much force I opened it. Basically the detent when the blade is closed keeps it closed much too strongly. Anybody else with this problem? Fix? Help!

Just random T-mag thoughts: Sweet little knife, lock is really weak, even compared to my orange Urban. I can easily flick it open/close. I really want to use it to see how it holds up with my finger in choil! Still a really cool knife.

Thanks guys :)

Loosen up the pivot point w/ a hex wrench. Shouldn't take more than half a turn. After you get it loosened up, make sure there is no side to side blade wiggle. Post back to let us know how the knife turns out.

I really need a hex but don't have one. Imma go try to find one real quick though. Also does the pivot have to do with closed retention?

carefull, the pivot tention determines blade centering when closed, at least on mine...wish mine had a strong detent

Take it slow when tweaking the knife. It's easy to get it out of alignment.

Well I tried lossening pivot and adjusting it. No luck even with the pivot bolt so loose it could move side to side.idk??...

There's a guide on the Spyderco forums on how to fix an offcenter blade. If your millie is too hard to open, try opening and closing repeatedly. Mine took a while to become smooth.

Also, you may be pushing on the hole wrongly. The hole requires a different action than thumb studs. Since you have a few Spydies I don't think that's the case though/

Ill go check out the forums, wongKI. I highly doubt my technique is wrong cuase i have had more than a few haha. :) Thanks for the suggestion do you have a link?

A strong detent is awesome!
I really think you should just play with it, use it, and wait till it wears out a little.

It's a TORX screw, not a hex.

Two of mine are hex. I think the current production is Torx, though. Make sure you have the right bit before you attack the pivot bolt.

Personally, I say just cycle the knife open/closed repeatedly while watching a movie or two.

As to the T-Mag, I think the knife could use an extended tang feature like you see on friction folders. The T-Mag is a knife I carry on occasions when I want a more classy looking small carry - that few would consider a "weapon".

try also adjusting loosening the stop pin screws

those 2 are my favourite Spydies, use them well !! :)
