Military role of the hawk and a Khukuri Comparison.

Just a couple of questions.

What role does the Hawk play with presently serving military? Is it as obvious as simply a weapon or is there a more utility role?

Secondly, I'm thinking of purchasing a VTAC (if that's the correct term) mostly for outdoor use.

However, I currently own / carry a Himalayan imports Ang Khola 15" (Kumar I think) which is rather thick and hefty.

I was wondering how the VTAC would compare to such a blade for chopping wood, with the substantially longer handle? Are there any chores / roles that in which the hawk would be greatly superior to the Khukuri?

I'm assuming the hawk would certainly be a good deal lighter?

Additionally does the spike offer much outdoor utility? I'm struggling to think of a use for it having never used one.

Finally, a while ago I saw a custom ATC hawk which featured a sort of rounded off section (where the spike would be) looking like a very small hawk's beak or similar (large enough to increase impact at that point). If that makes any sense, would anyone be able to inform me of the correct term for this feature / style of hawk?
I'm assuming that this isn't an option on the VTAC?

Thanks kindly for any help given.

Don't know about outdoor utility, but spikes are good for punching through thin metal, which could be very helpful to military guys, even if never used in a defensive role...even better than my much-loved HI kuks. ;)
