Military Versions?

I just picked up a new plainedge Military from Bayou Lafourche (great service, by the way)and have read about past "improvements" made on the military-I know it came out around 96, improved around 98 and I thought I heard it was improved for 2000 as well-different engraving on the blade maybe?
Anyway, if someone could explain to me what improvements have been made to this fine blade over the years I would appreciate it.
The military carries so well for such a big knife-but I'm saying stuff here y'all obviously already know!
