Aside from the blade length, is either better than the other? Seems the major difference is the lock. Pros/cons?

Paramilitary has all four corners drilled for a three screw pocket clip(on many models). Para2 also has a larger lanyard ring.

Some Military have titanium handles. Only 1 position for military pocket clip which I believe is unique to it, but maybe not.

Other than the lock and blade length no.

They are both excellent. :D

Para 2 also has the pivot bushing system so you don't have to adjust the pivot, you just tighten it all the way down. It's also more affordable than the Military and the pocket clip has 4 positions unlike the Military which has one.

In regards to the overall, I personally like the paramilitary 2 better. As a lefty, it is nice to have the knife pocketable on my left side. Disregarding that, I just find the military to be too big to edc. I went on a kick for a while that this knife was just gonna be awesome and ill do everything with it...that didn't turn out quite as planned. For cutting up lots of cardboard or big stuff, the military is great. But, for standard edc type chores (opening mail, packages, small cuts) the blade is just too big. anyone unaccustomed to knives would be terrified. I like the ergonomics on both knives, but the para 2 just fits my hands better. I have medium-ish sized hands, and the Millie is a monster.

At first the knife will totally shock and amaze you on how big it is. Truthfully, the knife actually does get smaller as you carry it around and wear it in your pocket. This is kind of dangerous though. Now that I don't really see a military as too big of a knife, I sometimes over stress the nerves of the sheeple when i pull out a larger than normal sized blade.

Another point about Spydercos in general. They tend to seem or look bigger than nearly all other brands of knives because they have such wide blades. When i compare my para 2 and my buck 110, the buck is a longer blade, but it seems smaller than the para 2 since it is less wide, and thus more streamlined. Thats just something to keep in mind.

In terms of lock strength, i think that the para 2 might actually be stronger. One would have to baton with or whatever, both blades subsequently ruining them, but i find that the lockup on the para 2s just feels a little more tight and sure. I own the carbon fiber para 2, and the lockup is solid like a bank vault. The orange military i have also has a great lock, but it just seems a little less "trustworthy?" I know that its fully functional and there are no problems whatsoever. I'm just a little hesitant on liner locks after my friends skyline nearly chopped my finger off by closing on it. Personally a lefty ti framelock would be great...even tho its a big blade, if you can get over that fact, it is probably one of the best knives on the market. If you have the money, I'd go for the titanium version, or hold out till you could get your hands on a CTS-XHP sprint this next year. The military sprints especially. If you want some more info, check out BLUNTRUTH4U on youtube, he does a vid review of the military.

:) I love my para 2, and find that i can do everything i need with it. Even larger cutting tasks, the blade just seems to be in that perfect size range between say a delica and a military.

I ended up getting one of each frankly. Just fantastic knives both. My Para is the 1 model...one position clip like the Millie. Both screaming sharp out of the box, both look great. I do have a bit of blade play on the Para but not much. Zero play on the Millie.

I'm the opposite of orchunter93. I find the Military to be the perfect edc. It does letters, packages, fingernails and boxes great for me. It also excels at cutting bread, bagels, potatoes, and other food prep that smaller 3" blades don't do quite as well. I find it very useful during lunch at work and it carries in my pocket like it isn't even there.
I can't comment on the Para lock but have zero complaints about any locks on the Military's I've owned.

Of course what makes a good EDC is subjective. I think the Para 2 makes a better EDC just by virture of its size and dimensions and that's coming from a huge Military fan.

I carry a Military when I need the Military for its attributes but I also carry it for GP when I haven't carried one for a while.

I see the Para 2 as a knife that takes the feel and look of the Military, and squishes it into a tiny little package.

I would only get the Para over the Military if you specifically cannot carry a 4" blade. If you like the Para on its own merits, go for it.

I like the improved Paramilitary2 but my thumb really hates the little tab on the compression lock liner, esp the back top corner. The repositioned tab just catches my thumb wrong. If both hands are free, I'll just close it two handed coming in over the top with my thumb. Mine's really sticky, but I hear it's a strong lock. This one's not an EDC but a worker for me.

+1 here
