Hi, I just received a free sample of Militec-1 from the website and I am really impressed. It made my benchmade axis locking knives extremely smooth instantally. I had previously been using tuff-glide on all my knives, but I am so impressed that I will be switching. I found that tuff-glide needs a certain amount of drying time to work best, however, with the Militec-1 it made my knives smother right away. So, if you haven't done it yet go to their website and order a free sample you will be glad that you did. They provide you with a generous amount in a screw top plastic bottle, nice product.

It's good stuff. I don't know if anyone can explain this, but it almost seems it works better if I first apply Tuf-glide, let that dry, and then apply the Militec-1. It's possible the Tuf-glide helps clean things out before the Militec-1 is applied.

You'll also notice that there's less gunk with Militec-1...
WIth Tuf-Glide there was always some black stuff after awhile...but not anymore since i switched to Militec-1....

Superb stuff...

You think i can use it on fishing reels???

Funny, I did the same thing. I think I emailed for the free sample on Monday and received it today. Like you said, it's a generous sample and if you are simply using it on knife pivots, this little bottle should last a while.

I placed a drop on each side of the pivot of my BM 770 Axis and it's extremely smooth now. I didn't think it could get any smoother, but it did!

I found that Tuf Glide worked well on some knives and terribly on others. On my WH Monarch, the Tuf Glide had an awful effect. It literally stiffened up the action terribly. Once it dried it got a little better but it was *much* worse than without any lube. I finally got fed up and washed it out with dishwashing detergent. Once I got rid of the Tuf Glide, the Monarch was smooth as butter. Now I keep it dry and it's one of my smoothest openers. OTOH, Tuf Glide worked very well on my WH Kestrel. Not sure why this happened but I'm glad to have both kinds of lube now.

Definitely email for the free Militec-1 sample!

The black stuff is probably dirt and grease being worked out by the cleaning action of the Tuf-Glide. The carrier is mineral spirits. So it's not the tuf-glide turning black, it's the tuf-glide pushing out all the gunk inside your knife. :)

I don't think it's really the gunk inside the knife...since it happens after i've cleaned the knife as well (in hot soapy water with a toothbrush)...so i think it's just stuff from my pocket...and maybe a little gunk...but it doesn't happen with militec-1 (after i've cleaned the knife)...

it's weird...but i think militec-1 attracts less dirt...

Hmm.. Maybe someone else here has an idea. I still think it's probably factory grease or lube that's deep in your pivot and inbetween your washers. The hot soapy water probably wouldn't do much to get this out as the grease would tend to push the water away. Where the mineral spirits in the tuf-glide would tend to disolve it and make it run out. Militec-1 is just oil, and wouldn't really make whatever grease and lube losen and come out. It's like saying "Vegetable oil doesn't take paint off my wall, but paint thinner does. I wonder why..."

It is now the only thing I am useing on my guns and knives.

The site mentions use of Militec-1 in auto/bike applications. Anyone tried this? I would be willing to try this in my Honda CBR1100xx.

The Grease works GREAT on my AK47.

Thanks

Militec-1 is a decent lubricant, but be aware that it sucks for corrosion resistance compared to some other gun lubes. CLP and FP-10 come to mind.

On stainless pocket knives it's no big deal.

This is a dumb question, but how are you suposed to open the sample bottle of militec, I used a razor blade and cut part of the tip off. I'm thinking now that may be i should have used a needle.

That doesn't say anything about opening a sample bottle. Could you tell me how to open the sample?

it only works if you cut it off with either a Small Regular Sebenza or a Strider SMF.

:p

I put it in my engine and kept a car with a blown head gasket (now fixed) and a blown piston ring running smooth for well over a year...

I used a Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel since I thought the 12" chop saw would be a bit of overkill. ;)

militec is great stuff for knives/guns, i started using it a few months ago and i must say i like better than tuffglide, which is what i was using, a little bit, tuffglide is pretty good too, also the remington gun oil in the small clear plastic bottle also works well.

but ya are saying ya put militec in an auto engine w/a blown headgasket and a broken ring, and the militec cured the resultant "miss"?

On one knife this bottle will last over a year. You don´t have to lube it much more than once a week or two weeks. Just two or three drops.

I have 8 Fl oc. and therefor i am a bit more generous in lubing and lube 10 knifes and a tool. But it lasts and lasts.

The little bottle is great to be carried on a trip.

Hadn´t found much to do for the grease but to lube our doors here.
