I got a little Militec in the joint of my Sebenza. I say "got" because I intended to just put it on the blade (Sides and edges) as an experiment. However some rolled down into the joint. Man! It's slick stuff! My Sebenza opens if you look at it too hard

. Joking aside, I believe Militec is great stuff. I feel a little embarrassed to put this in a post, but here goes. For some reason, when I put Militec on SOME blades, they seem sharper. Call me crazy if you want, the hair that WAS on my arm says different.

If you left the oil on the blade while shaving, I'd guess it was just a smoother shave, i.e. lubricated blade glided across your arm, ala shaving cream. Of course the edge didn't change.

Rdangerer,
No, that's not it. I wiped the blade clean last night. This morning the "sharper" feeling is still there. I realize the edge didn't change because of the Militec, but it feels sharper, it really does. When I was talking to the guy at the Militec factory, he told me that he had just bought a new Al Mar auto. (He cuts a lot of boxes with it.) He told me that after applying the Militec, he didn't have to sharpen as often. I didn't really beieve him. He sounded ernest, though. Maybe now I do believe him.

Maybe he guages performance by how the blade goes through the media, measured by approximate force. If the sides of the blade are lubricated, it may reduce effort hence giving the impressions of not needing sharpening as much.

In it's most simplist form, isn't our perceived need for sharpening based upon how easy/difficult it is to cut?

If you were using a penetrating lubricant, I would think that it might help remove some crud from the cutting edge and thereby increase performance somewhat.
