Been hearing nothing but amazing things about this stuff (for guns) and the way it lubricates and lasts longer then anything else. Haven't tried it, but am planning on picking some up after reading and watching a bunch of reviews.

Has anyone tried it? Has anyone tried a dab or two on their knives and seen how well (or not) it works?

*(and just for, I did do a search, read through at least 10 threads it was mentioned in, nothing really rock solid though, just mainly a mention of it here or there that someone uses it, but not specifics).

I've used it and really like it for guns. I like nano-oil even better for knives.

The General Forum is for questions about knives.
This belongs in Maintenance and Tinkering.

Tried it 5 years back.
Now I don't like to use anything else.
Really good stuff when used sparingly.
I can not recommend anything else higher.

I'm a pretty huge 2A gun nut, I've sold guns behind the counter for about 7 years, and generally like to research stuff. Militec is absolute snake oil. It's pretty terrible stuff that doesn't lubricate especially well and will actually accelerate corrosion. I guess I should back up my claims...how about the results of military trials, in which it failed badly.

not enough? OK, how about the corrosion claims....

Pretty much anyone that's relatively serious about guns and spends time around industry folk know militec is a terrible product. In contrast, regular ol' breakfree clp actually did pretty well in military testing. Lots of folks in gunworld also just resort to cheap old mobile 1 full synthetic to keep guns lubricated and to migrate fouling. For my knives, I just grab some breakfree lp from the gun stuff to keep everything lubricated. A wonder oil won't really magically make your knife butter smooth. For most knives, you're better served to polish any bearing surfaces and ensure that they are clean every once in a while between lubing them.

oh, and froglube is crap too...but that's for another thread.
