My question is, how much Militec would I need to add to my engine, and transmission to treat the internal surfaces?
The brochure describes the benefits at length, but doesnt ever give instructions or the proper amount.

First I wouldn't add it to an automatic transmission. secondly I figure that it wouldn't take that much, a ounce or less probably to throughly mix with the oil.

And just FYI, about 12 years ago I added slick 50 to the oil of a car with abotu 100K miles on it, less then 50 miles later the oil pump failed. Coincidence? WHo knows.

I wouldn't add it, or anything else, to my auto. If you change your oil & filter regularly and have the transmission serviced when the mfg says to, additives are unnecessary and may be harmful. I usually get well over 100K miles on my cars doing what I just said and have never had an engine or transmission repair. YMMV!

NO!Bad! No bisquit! Any modern oil needs nothing added. You just waste you money. I have also seen two cars die soon after adding slick 50. As regards PTFE Dupont has actually tried to stop selling it to people who want to use it as an oil additive. Use a good oil the right weight oil and change it at the prescribed interval.

this is a good articale.

Thanks for the responses!

-I have a Manual Transmission.

-I know better than to add oil additives, Militec isnt an oil additive, it is a metal conditioner, so I am unsure how a comparison to slick 50 is meaningful.

unless you think they are lying about their product?-they claim it does not affect viscosity, just uses the oil as a medium to spread to all the surfaces, then exits the oil completely when it reaches the untreated areas.

(They certainly weren't lying about militec's effectiveness as a firearms lubricant)

On a side note, my car is worth around $500 and is a rust bucket. If I had a nice car, I might be somewhat hesitant to add it to the motor, but with a shitbox like I drive, I dont have that problem.

Well, If I can find out about the amount to add, I will let you all know if it works, or if it kills my crap-box Topaz.

I don't recall the amount, but my uncle sells it, has for years...and my mother uses it in her minivan which is approaching 200,000 miles without an overhaul....and she adds it to her auto trans every so often as well...
