Militec Lubrication Products?

I have a question to ask you all about a product that used to be super popular at all the Gun & Knife shows but for some strange reason you don't hear it mentioned much anymore. I'm speaking of the MILITEC line of lubrication products. Ever since I bought my very first bottle of Militec 1 lube at a Benchmade booth at a knife show almost 10 years ago I've been sold on it's great performance. Also I used to hear dozens of testimonies about many people liking it as much or more than I do.

Albeit in the past year or so I don't hear much about it and when I mention it in threads on many knife forums it's as though it vanished off the landscape. I've said on many forums and sub-forums if someone can tell me of a better quality lubrication product I would switch to it immediately. The synthetic grease that I bought from Militec is the best grease for high end fishing reels that I've ever used up till now.

If any of you guys have any current info on Militec's products ( good or bad) please feel free to tell me what you know. Also if there is a much better lubrication product for folding knives and anything that needs a good performing lubrication product then by all means tell me what it is.

When I was interested in Benchmade knives about 15 years ago,,, I also used Militec 1 products.
Worked very well at the time however, changed over to Nano-Oil when it was introduced and it continues to be my first choice.
The Nano-Oil applies easier, never liked the optional Militec needle applicator which leaked too easily and is very long.

They both lubricate knife pivots and washers very well.

Regards,
FK

Yeah I've always found it interesting that the people that own and run the Benchmade company sold it and praised it for years. And I don't think a company as quality minded as Benchmade is would have touted a lousy or sub-standard product. I also have a good friend who is heavily into Glock firearms and he said that Militec is about all he uses on those guns and this guy makes a lot of money and he could use anything he would want to use.

So with all that being said I find it rather strange that Militec has fallen out of favor here on the knife forums. I've heard good things about the newer "Nano Oil" and a couple of other new products I've heard mentioned so I realize that there are other high quality products out there. But I'm also absolutely sure that a lot of the lubrication products sold are not nearly as good as Militec is.

Like I've said if anyone can show me a lubrication product that is markedly better I'll give it a try and even switch if it's much better. Again I mention Militec's synthetic grease is also a really good product and I even like it better than the white lithium greas I had used previously.

Oops I just made a separate post about Quick Release before I read this. I don't remember if I ever used nano oil (I have bought and misplaced so many tiny bottles of lube over the years!) But QR impressed me enough to post "wow."

Greetings "fishface">> Quick Release is a new one on me. What is the product mainly use for? What product is it similar to? Is it kind of like Break Free? What sector of users is it mainly marketed to? I still like Militec because of it's ability to cling onto metal for such a long period of time. Most wet lubes don't seem to last as long on folding knives.

Hi it says on the label that it is for knives. I don't know how long it will last yet, so far I've only had it on my knives for a couple weeks.

Militec is great stuff...for guns. I find it is too thick for knives. It just makes it a dust magnet.

My preferred method for knives is a thorough flush with Naptha followed by a minimal amount of Tufglide.

That's a really interesting regimen you mentioned on that second line. Because I have used Naptha in the past for cleaning and prep jobs and it works well. But in the past two years I've been using Ballistol for most cleaning jobs on folding knives because Ballistol works great to recondition G-10 handles and it also has a great deal of lubricity for internal moving parts.

TufGlide is one of the great products put out by Sentry Solutions and it would currently be my second choice to Militec. Naptha has a lot of the same properties that #1 Kerosene has but is superior in a couple of ways. Yeah I would use Naptha for cleaning and maintenance jobs any time.
