So I'm trying to figure out, hopefully from people who are more experienced or knowledgeable on this than I, because I've come across contradicting information.
So yes I'm fully aware Militech-1 is ment for firearms and is a rust protection and lubricant. I'm new to less than stainless steels, got 3v which I understand to be semi stainless. I live in a slightly humid and sometimes more than slightly humid area, I have a stainless I forgot about inside on a counter in the den that I guess slightly rusted. Nothing serious but it was alot of work to remove and clean. Now I'm worried about my 3v blade(folder) as I've never had to care for something unstainless.
The guy I listened too used a hair dryer to heat the blade enough to "bond" the militech he claimed as militech says the compound binds and creates a protective coat. Which sounds great but not sure hairdryer man is cutting it, but I don't know jack so yeah. Then someone else on another forum said militech-1 film it leaves damages your knives, or finish at least, because it leaves a film. Then there's the question of how much heat is even needed to bond it anyway? Because too hot can ruin the blades heat treat right? And last question... what are my alternatives to rust prevention care both for storing and for EDC ones, besides mineral oil. Also accounting for the fact it could be a folding 3V.
