So I decided to put a fuller into one of the folders I’m making and decided on a 3/32 2 flute carbide ball end mill. I made the first one by climb milling expecting a nice finish but it was rather sloppy. The second one I did conventional and it turned out way better. Has anyone else noticed a difference? I wonder if it being a 2 flute it contributed to the sloppiness/chatter.

I use a 4 flute carbide end mill and they have turned out great. Hardest part is lining up from side to side. The DRO makes depth super easy though

I’m an idiot! It just occurred to me that it doesn’t matter when cutting a groove the same width as the tool, no matter what direction it feeds it’s it’s climb and conventional at the same time.

Yeah I was a little confused with how you worded the op lol

I use a 4 flute carbide as well. I recently bought these cool little rulers that go around the spine just to make sure you line things up accurately.
Incra rulers. They make a centering ruler too. They’ve been pretty useful.
