Millipede vs cobra

wow, had to google that one.

I know nothing about the millipede, however cobra tied bracelets have been around a while, they've all ways worked for me...

Google millipede paracord bracelet. The milli. Unravels in like 5 seconds, cobra not so much, but was curious if there were any disadvantages. Ive made both and like both, just wanting to know if some one knows anything.

Neither?

I prefer to have nothing on my wrist that might snag something in the woods. I carry several lengths of para-cord in my pack or wound around my sheath, but not on my body. I see a lot of guys wearing these bracelets, and they NEVER seem willing to unravel them when we need some cord...it always made me wonder why they even wear them in the first place...

I thought this was going to be a video of a cobra vs a millipede like in a duel, How disappointing....

I don't see any particular disadvantage to the Millipede style, and it does allow for quicker deployment, but my experience is limited (ie how it holds up over time).

The most interesting design I saw was a guy who integrated firestarting capabilities with a Ferro closure knob, jute entwined in the paracord, and a metal striker/engraveable plate.

Protip: If you're going to make one, make it for your ankle.

Not only is it less obtrusive and disappears under your pant leg, but you get more paracord out of the deal (since it has to be longer to fit around your ankle).

I think that sometimes happens because people have an issue with cutting up something they paid for and like to wear...and forget why they wear it in the first place. Or are saving it for something they see as an actual "survival" situation maybe. Plus the way a lot of them are made people really don't know how to go about taking it apart with the cord still in one piece. I make the ones I wear with a clip that will break away before my wrist is hurt and easy to take apart...as long as I have something to cut with, but I have redundant cutting tools. All it takes is cutting away one end of the string which has a melted knot in it and it all unravels pretty easily. I routinely take them apart in the field. It's the 30 feet of para cord wrap on the handle my walking stick I am very hesitant to take apart...but will if it comes to needing it.

As for the OP, I've yet to look up the millipede, but whichever one you can make easiest to take apart, and you are more comfortable wearing, and don't mind disassembling. Neither will do you much good if you can't get it apart or are unwilling to do so.
