Mind closing a thread for me?

You have the power to close any thread that you start...

On the thread, click 'Post Reply' ... underneath the large text box, you'll see some options, and at the bottom of this list you'll see:

'Thread Management'
"Close this thread after you submit your message", next to a check box.

Click on this box, type your final reply in the large text box, then click 'Submit Reply', and your last reply will show on the thread... and the thread will be permanently closed unless a Moderator wishes to re-open it (But I doubt any Mod will do this unless maybe YOU request it).

That's only for platinum members.
 
And even platinum members don't have much luck trying to end a dispute they started in TGB&U by closing a thread -- people just start a new one. Needless to say the moderators of TGB&U do not close threads. Of course losers are always asking us to, if not demanding it....
