Mine isn't as fancy...

as your YCS's and EKK's, but I'm still in awe of the work the Kamis can turn out with what tools they have. Thanks to Dr. King I recieved it Tuesday instead of Monday and haven't put it down since. This is my second HI Khuk, the first being a 18" AK from shop two quite a while ago.
What really strikes me is the improvement in quality between the two pieces. This is especially apparent in the quality of the sheaths. The tooling on the sheath is a nice touch, and the slots for the karda and chakma hold them securely without scratching the handles. The leather used is slightly thicker and has more consistent grain. The "magic stone" polishing is much better on the new blade than the old,and he butt cap is fitted more precisely.
The only flaw on my new 15" I can see is what appears to be the remains of a porous spot in the horn on the back of the handle that the Kami tried to polish out, creating a slight depression. With that purely cosmetic mark, I'd rate this one a 9.9/10. I'd say the overall package is significantly better than my old shop 2 18"AK.
One of my favorite attributes of the 15" is that it fits in my school bag and on my scanner bed!

Nice blade.
Nice picture.

BirGhorka is putting out fantastic quality these days.

I agree, the quality on the khukuri's has really improved since Shop 2 started up.

While not as fancy it is equally as useful.

Great pic Dakota!!!!

And remember that beauty shows up in a much more subtle way in something that appears plain at first glance.

BirGhorka has equaled and surpassed
Shop 1 some time ago.
I just don't believe there can be any better quality than HI's and yet it still keeps improving.
I am like Uncle Bill and when I think the kamis have reached their pinnacle they do something to top it yet again.
And although they may have started in desperation and for pay at BirGhorka I believe that the HI kamis have found the beauty in their work and in their pride of customer satisfaction. Work this good doesn't come from people not appreciated IMO.

I am in agreement with ¥vsa. Just when you think the kamis have maxxed out, they pull another rabbit out of the hat.... I wonder what they'll do if I say, make me a khukuri that looks great......

There is a personal relationship that has developed between customer and kami that is a strong motivation. Getting those customer pix up on the wall had a huge impact. The khukuris they make are not for the market they are for people. And, of course, those excellence bonuses that are sent by more than satisfied customers spurs them on to greater efforts and accomplishments, too.
