Mineral Mountain Khukuri

I don't have the khukuri, but I do have a White River bowie. Ted makes a very solid, no-frills blade. I would have to say though that the khukuri is my least favorite Mineral Mountain blade. I'm sure it would be a great chopper, but I really can't stand the way it looks.

This one?
cannot see a cho, a sword of shiva or beauty of any kind. This is not a Khuk,it is not bent - maybe it fits the category "leaf-blade" or "bolo" (sorry I am no specialist).
Maybe it is a good chopper, it looks quite solid. I will not going to find out.

Josh,

Thanks for the info. True, not beautiful like a regular HI one. Still I'd be interested to hear from anybody who actually owns one. How it does. Also weight. I emailed the site and the guy who runs it said he didn't know.

White River Bowie? That was my favorite one I saw on the site style wise. How does that rate as a chopper? How is the edge? Do you have the one with the guard or without? What size do you have? Do you have a scale? What's it weigh??

Anybody own the khukuri model?

Andreas,

Yeah, I can see Bolo more than Khukuri although I think the leaf blade might apply too like you indicate.

Hollowdweller-- I have the 12" blade without the guard. I don't have a scale, but I'd estimate the weight at somewhere between 1.5 and 2 pounds. The blade is hollow ground, but the edge is really thick. I've taken the edge bevel down quite a bit on mine and still don't have any problems with edge durability. The steel is 5160, the same as HI khukuris, and Ted Frizzel does a good heat treat. As a chopper, it functions well, but is not in the same class as a khukuri. The clip takes a lot of weight off the front of the blade, so the sweet spot is back around where the clip starts. If you want a dedicated chopper, I would look at the survival bowie.
