Mini AFCK (axis) - why not?

Having just read through one of the recent articles on "axis" locks, one of the forum members stated:

"My third point is admittedly the weakest, but it seems either BM or practicality has imposed a size limit of 3.9 inches (the 710 size, as stated by BM) on their blades. Not necessarily a disadvantage to most, but some may see this as a drawback."

This got me thinking.

I have a older Mini AFCK which I think is a terrific knife (regardless of the liner lock). I also have the mini TSEK as well as 2 mini-grips (556 & 551) which again, I really like. (Got a Ritter on the way as well :D)

Why doesn't BM make a mini AFCK with the zxis lock now, since the mini grips have always appeared to be a good seller and their blade size is only ~3" ... which is approximately the same as my old AFCK.

I'd love to get a mini AFCK with an axis lock! (The 806 and 805 are way too big for me ;))

Anyone know why BM never produced these "baby's"?

Joe

A mini AFCK with axis lock and a round opening hole (like the earlier models) :D I'd get myself one ;) I know it's not possible, though :(

This subject has come up several times on the BM forum. Still don't know why the don't produce it. One thought was that the Mini AFCK was too small (thin) for the axis, but who knows.

Maybe they discontinued it, so they could put the axis lock on it.
They discontinued the 705, but then came out with the 707 to replace it, so we can always hope.

Hey yeah,

I forgot that they had redone the 705 to the 707!!

They could always increase the width slightly on the AFCK to allow the axis more "rigor". 2c's.

yeah I've got an 812S myself and love it! It really takes a beating, an axis would only make it even better.

I doubt it.

Take a look at a BM 94x, it's tiny compared to the big AFCKs and 710s, about the same size as a Mini-AFCK and considerably thinner than a 705, with a blade a little less than 3½".

Still too big? I got a BM 770 last month, which has a scaled-down Axis lock, in a gent's knife size, sub-3" blade. VERY small.

I have heard some times that the spring of the axis-lock can brake, so I trust more the linerlock of my 814P, 814PS and 814PS Realtree with M2-Blade !
