Hey, guys. I want one of these knives, but I don't know which one to get. I have handled the mini-TSEK here locally, but nobody around here carries the mini-AFCK anymore. I don't understand it, I thought that the AFCK series was one of Benchmade's best selling knives.
Anyway, the photos I have seen at the various knife sites makes it look like the blade shape is slightly different on the AFCK now. It doesn't look as "pointy" as the older models were. Is this really true? Or is it just a trick of the photography angle? I like the shape of the TSEK's blade. It is thick and seems very strong, but I also like how sleek the AFCK looks.
One thing I always check (when I'm able too) about a knife that you don't seem to see much about on the forums, is how well the knife carries. This may seem a trivial point to some, but if a knife is too bulky or just doesn't "feel" right in the pocket, I end up not carrying it that much. I know that may sound obvious, but hey, how many of our knives end up getting carried more than used? I use my knife a lot a my job, but I would say 60% of the time its just riding around with me.
I tried out the TSEK and it is very light in the pocket, yet feels tough when deployed in the hand. (I hope that makes sense)
And, yes, a lot of this is me rationalizing buying a new knife, but more than a few of the knives in my collection look great when I see them on the internet, I get all excited, order one, receive it, go "cool...new knife!" , play with it a bit, and then put it up in the collection for one reason or another. Too bulky, too heavy, the blade shape just doesn't work for me.....something. I really liked the way the TSEK felt in the hand and in the pocket, but like I said, I kinda like the AFCK's blade better, ESPECIALLY if the tip is stronger that the older one.
Thanks for any info you guys can give me,
Flinx
