Is it worth buying? It's a linerlocker, but then again, I haven't owned any BMs, so I have no idea how well they're made. It's available in M2 as well.

There seem to be dozens of threads on the Axis AFCK, but few on the liner lock versions of it.

I have both the 806D2 (AFCK AXIS with D2) and the 814HS (Mini AFCK II with M2) and I love them both!

The 806D2 is a big knife, but the 814HS is smaller, maybe the perfect size for an EDC knife. While its no AXIS lock, Benchmade's linerlocks are top notch!

it's just that the axis version is better but i've never had problems with bm liner locks, i'm still waiting for a non coated d2 blade mini afck with axis lock

IMHO, the mini AFCK is one of the best all-around, general-purpose pocket knives ever designed and they're just as well-built.

There has NOT been any flood of reports of AFCK lock problems. In fact, over the years here at bf.c, there have only been a few claims. BM has been making the AFCK and the mini for what? maybe five or six years now. BM doesn't release production stats, but I'm sure it's one of their highest runners. I'll bet they've sold a million of 'em. If there was a problem, there's be stacks of reports about it here.

Great knife, and a bargain at the price these things street for.

I have the mini-TSEK, which is an AFCK with a thumbstud, and I agree with im2smrt4u that this knife is an ideal overall size. The linerlock on mine is well executed and I don't recall many complaints about BM's linerlocks. If you don't mind a linerlock, you should be pleased with the knife. If BM made either the mini-TSEK or mini-AFCK with Axis locks, they'd have a big seller, especially if they left off the much-reviled black coating.

BM's knives may seem expensive if you've never owned one, but most people find that the designs and build quality justify the price.

BTW, its almost impossible (for me anyway) to disengage the linerlock with the knife in my left hand. Its a right handed knife only.

my edc is the mini AFCK in M2, but if they came out with the axis mini AFCK like Manji said but let's go with SV-30 and swiss cheese the handle as well and then you may have the perfect EDC.

Benchmade does there liner locks right! In fact, I prefer their liner lock on th AFCK over the axis! How dare I say that? I had an 806 and while I was in the process of using it, I shifted my grip on the handle, my finger hit the lock button and disengaged the lock and the knife almost closed on my fingers. Maybe a freak accident, but if it can happen once, it can happen again. I have never had a BM liner lock fail nor have I accidentally disengaged it. I'm sure somone may have had a liner lock fail on them or maybe disengage, but I generally go by my personal experience first. I own 4 AFCK liner locks. The full size or mini AFCK liner lock is, without a doubt, my favorite production knife.

Are they planning to make the mini with a axis lock? If they do, that would be the perfect knife. No that it is a slouch right now.

a mini AFCK w/an axis would be cool, have a 814 pre pro i got from a fellow BF member, the infamous JAXURMAN for about $50, my wife carried it for a while, now carries a 905BT mini stryker, but an excellent knife, a pretty big knife actually imho for a mini, i prefer the full size AFCK, but the mini is good too....

AFCK's of all sorts are interesting to me, kinda collect them, have 8 AFCK's now.....and dont carry any, lol, just collect now, anyway!

If you had to choose between a lower end Axis-lock model (e.g. Griptilian) and the Mini-AFCK, which would it be?

well, the grip is a bit bigger than the mini AFCK, but the axis is a GREAT lock, imho........

i would either :

*prob get the griptillian, or

*save up a little more and get a 806 full size, or

*go to www.newgraham.com and see if they still have a deal on old BM's, ya used to be able to get a 800S for about $70, and if i could still get the 800 for that kinda $$, i would go w/the 800 even w/the liner lock, i just aint crazy about the grip, looks 'funky' to me, oh feels fine in the hand/etc, just dont like the looks....

Another rave review here for the mini AFCK! Just got one at the CKG show and this is one great little folder. It has had the odd effect of inspiring total trust in a liner lock and believe me I have never totally trusted a liner lock till now. It is my first Benchmade but it will definitely not be the last.

I agree with Gollnick, that the Mini AFCK is one of the best all around production knives. I have two of them and I have never had any problem with the liner locks. If they would come out with one in D2 instead of the M2, this would be even better.

I don't know...all I know is that I like the M2 on my Mini AFCK even better than the D2 on my larger AFCK!

I have a couple of customs in D2 and one production knife in D2. The D2 knives that I have will hold an edge a lot longer than the M2's I have. I gave one of my sons a Mini AFCK in M2 for Xmas last year and it doesn't hold an edge very well, it's worse than my M2's. I'm sure that this is going to be a case of heat treat/temper.

imo d2 would be better because it is semi stainless so you don't actually need to coat the blade, whereas m2 is not stainless at all so you do need to coat it

How does the Mini-AFCK compare to the Mini-SOCOM? I can't find the complete stats for the Mini-SOCOM, but they are similar in size.

I have a new (never seen the light of day )806D2 and to me ! I would trade it for a Mini AFCK ! for the same condition. Just to big
is the 806D2, no big deal But I would like to have a smaller AFCK;)
