Mini AFCK or Mini Commander

So...Which one guys? I am looking for a part-serrated user. All my high-end blades are plain, but I want a user part serrated tactical for an all purpose no worries blade. I like smaller knives and most of mine are 3inch or under. So this will be my biggie (may sound crazy to you big knife lovers).

Here is my take:

Benchmade Mini AFCK -- like the opening hole, M2, pocket clip allows for low pocket carry, feels great in the hand, Classic.

Emerson Mini Commander -- Never tried the thumbdisk, wave is great, like the recurve blade, looks more substantial.

So tell me what you like and if anyone has a pic of them side by side that would be great.

Thanks...JT

IMO go for the Emerson mini Commander ;) More "bang" for the
"buck"! Emerson's are great knives
too. Even though I like Spyderco & SOG ;)

Hi man!

I´ve to congratulate you on your choice for small blades Its the best. Finally I´ve found someone without short dick complexes with no need to compensate in the knives they own.
Personally I think that partial serrated blades are the shitiest hibrid blade on can get Buy a fully serrated one!!! Buy SOG!!!

Personally, I would go with the Mini Commander. Besides having a much more comfortable handle, the Mini C has a better blade shape and the ever so cool wave. Some may say that the chisel grind isn't as useful, but I have to disagree. If you have the chance, heft them both.

I own both and I think the better of the two is the BM AFCK. Without a doubt a more useful blade shape for cutting just about anything. It is absolutlely way sharper out of the box than the Mini C. The wave opening really doesn't have much practical useful application if you ask me. Now before all the EKI fella's jump in my proverbial s..t let me explain. The wave feature is a great tactical feature on the EKI line. But and to me this a bid deal, it is relatively useful only in a tactical application. That is where a very fast opeing is desired. Also make sure no one is behind you and you don't have a longer coat on or your shirt tail out. I just tore the heck out of a very nice flannel shirt becaue the blade on deployment caught my shirt tail and ripped it.

The AFCK will take a keener edge to a much greater degree than the mini comm. The mini C Ihave just barely shaves hair and the point is rather dull by comparison too. It is more sheeple friendly, cuts better, deploys almost as quick and doesn't tear your pants up, has a better lock if it is the axis. Toss up if they are both liner locks. The ergo's may go to the EkI but not by much. Oh yea ease of sharpening and ease of sharpening and ease of sharpening. Keep'em sharp

mini afck by a long shot, pointier tip makes piercing tasks easier, axis lock is by far better then a liner lock, the fact that emerson only sharpens the blade on one side makes the knife not as effective for a user, the wave feature may be neat but not get sucked in by the neato factor, thumbdisk is not bad though but the hole is better

If you can, hold them in your hand. The Mini AFCK has the clip partially hang over the finger cutout. You may not like that. But you can get the M2 steel on the AFCK which is not an option on the EKI line. The BM modified liner lock is very secure, instead of a flat contact area, they curved it so the locking liner wont overshoot the tang and hit the other liner.

But I would recommend the Mini Griptillion, has Axis, bronze washers, sheeple friendly sheepsfoot blade shape, great handle and to me, thin blade.

Why thin blade? Knives are for cutting, and nothing beats a thin blade for cutting.

Only problem with this is the Mini AFCK doesn't come with the Axis Lock. They are both liner locks. I just held a Mini AFCK tonight at Bass Pro Shops (only 'cause they didn't have the full size AFCK with Axis in D2). My impressions, ultra smoothe opening. Nice looking blade, probably more user friendly for EDC cutting ability. BTW, I own and carry my Mini Commander on a daily basis, so this is personal experience. Personally the tip on the Mini Commander makes the blade only good for slicing, as it almost meets the spine at a 70 degree angle. This isn't real good for piercing things like clamshell packaging that a lot of items come in. I am looking for the full size 806D2 to use as my EDC. Personally, I don't really care for the chisel edge blade for EDC tasks. It will work great in a tactical SD situation I believe, but for general cutting, I would prefer the V-grind edge of the AFCK. Also, the blade on the mini AFCK is thinner than the Mini Commander, and looks like it would be much easier to sharpen. The wave is a great feature. I love it, and wave mine several times a day, just for the heII of it. The Mini AFCK is tip down carry, which works fine with the hole in the blade. You just grab the knife by the hole, pull it from your pocket, and flick it open. As far as the comment of the Modified Liner lock from BM, the tang on the Mini Commander is also curved to allow for some liner wear. All in all, for EDC, I would choose the mini AFCK. JMHO and YMMV.

whoops, yes the mini afck doesn't have the axis lock i forgot about that, but it does come in a cool m2 steel
