Mini Bic Lighter Sheath - Is This Possible

Hey everyone, just had a sheath question for the experts.

I was wondering if you could make a sheath for a mini bic lighter so the actual head was inside the sheath. Just wanted something so if I put it away in a pack or even my pocket the button doesn't engage.

Basically what I would want is something like the pic below, but reversed so the head went into the sheath. I've had problems in the past with packed bags and buttons getting engaged resulting in drained lighters. A sheath would definitely fix the problem, just didn't know if it was possible to reverse it like that without the button being engaged as you inserted it.

There was a guy someplace what he did was take the safety that is on the striker and placed it under the button

Said it worked good

Thanks for the idea... just kinda rather would have a sheath for it.

another option would be to make the sheath just a bit oversized, and then pinch it for friction on the outside of the lighter body, so that there was very little chance the button would catch the side and depress while inserting it.

Check out the Custom Kydex by Kiah sub. I know he's made one where the kydex goes up to the bottom of the button, so you can't depress it.

(That's full sized bic, but he can do mini)

This one is like what Lapp_Dance mentioned:

Last I know, he had plans for improving the button-inside carry:

"I'm thinking for keychain style carriers in the future of doing a friction fit instead of snap in retention. Not Kydex friction, but rubber coating in and out. This would allow for solid friction retention for button inside/outside carry as well as giving a grippy rubber outer surface to hang onto. It would also slim the dimensions down."

You should talk to him and see what he can do for you

I have made a few by molding them around the bottom of the lighter and then just inserting the lighter in head first. Tight fit and does not depress the button.

(( not a paid BF Dealer ))

I purchased one of these recently, and the craftsmanship is great! It fits like a glove.
