A Mini BuckMaster just sold on eBay this afternoon for $800. Not bad for a knife with an original dealer cost of $16. BuckMaster collectors sure are crazy serious. Wish my IRA's did that well. It is pretty well established that these were not actually made by Buck but Buck did sell 200 of them in 1987. It is not in the catalog but can be found on the 1987 price list. Of more interest to me is not the sale price but the small flier insert that was in the box. It implies that Buck did make the knives and that 200 were made before the "error" of Wilson being stamped on the tang was discovered. I have never seen this flier before. I know some of you on the forum have this knife. Did a flier like that come with yours?

Sounds to me like they actually COULD have been made by Buck with the Wilson name on them.

We do it with Remingtons, after all. The real Rambo knife collectors would know.

Thus the big $800 level on e-Bay.

Are there any Rambo knife Experts around who can elucidate?

:)

Come on Vorpal... I know it is in your nature to draw out the counterpoint but I'm sure even you can think of dozens of products in the Buck catalogs they did not actually make them selves.

wild. wouldnt even think of paying that much. thanks for posting. interesting what other collectors will pay for something.

Wait.......let's not go too fast........how many knives are in the Buck catalogs that they don't make themselves?

Or is this little critter not considered a knife? I suppose that's possible.

I'm not even sure whether the full-size version is a knife or an all-purpose tool for storming castles.

"It is in your nature to draw out the counterpoint."

Wait.......I think my shrink said that same thing!!!

I found the thread where Joe said they sold it but didn't make it.

Joe should know.

That same thread mentions one that sold in 2005 for $795.......so the price has not gone up much.

Safer to have your money in a good retirement account. Stock market doing WAY, WAY better than the Mini Rambo.

I have this one but I do not have the box or paperwork.

ITE also has one of the Wilson made mini Buckmaster knives. They are nice little knives, Armand's was the first one I had seen here on the forum. Then a few showed up for sale on the auction sites and were going for about $150 at the time I thought that was way to much.

Thank you for posting that flier. Wish I had bought 10 of them at that price!

The above pic is for the BIG version of the Rambo knife.........we're talking about the MINI version.

I've heard there were little people involved in the creation of the MINI.
