Hey y’all. I decided recently to grab myself a mini Bugout and decided to use some ebay credit I had. I bought from user staeric_72, which seems to be a dealer/user for Sportsman’s Warehouse. Advertised as “new.”

I received a mini bugout with scuffed/dirty scales, complained, and received a second/replacement that is just as bad or worse. Am I crazy or is this not right?? Is this just how the grivory is?

i’ve only ever had knives with black frn handles so i can’t speak from personal experience, but i’d have to say that they sent you a used & returned knife. twice. if i were you i’d ask for my money back at this point & find somewhere else to pick one up.

Sounds like a shady dealer, those definitely look used. Unfortunately there are people who use knives and then return them, and there are dealers willing to sell the returns as "new" stock.

ya i figured that much. thanks for the input. he refunded my money and said i could keep it, which makes me suspicious as to real or fake. thoughts?

That feels like a red flag given the presumed price of the knife. I had that happen a few months back with an inexpensive item, and it kind of made sense -- but it was nowhere near the cost of a Bugout.

I’m inclined to think the same thing, but everything I read/look at about the actual features of fake and real bugouts makes me think it’s real..

Looks legit to me from the pictures. Do you have any experience with the steel? If it behaves like what it’s supposed to be and not junk, it’s probably real.

That is something I have seen multiple times on the orange mini bugouts here at DLT, I am not sure of the specific cause, but I have seen it a more than once. Orange handles show dirt, buffing compound, etc really easily. I don't think yours is a fake.

^This man knows his stuff. That would be confirmation enough for me.

Thanks so much Jordan! Much appreciated. Are there specific things to look for that I could photograph for you to look at more closely if you wouldn’t mind?

I'd be happy to take a look at more pics, sure. The photos above look pretty comprehensive to me, but feel free to put up more and I'll take a look.

The mini Bugout is still a pretty new model. I don't recall seeing anyone showing any proven fakes, yet.

I bought a white mini bugout from a local dealer that I know well and there were black marks around the edges of the scales. I got to hand pick the best one so we opened three of them and they all had at least a few marks.

Of course, you could always contact Benchmade and ask them about this issue.

My orange is spot on.Nothing bad to declare. At what angle do you propose to sharp it 30,or 40 inclusive?
