I've got two of the regular sized one's but today I saw that the small ones had come in so I picked one up.

First of all, It is absolutely amazing how sharp it is. It is by all definitions "Hair Popping Sharp" cant even feel it cut the hairs off. This cheap knife came sharper than my Sebenza. I sharpened an ATS-34 blade last night on my 204 for 10min and didn't get it this sharp.

The black coating on the mini version is nicer than the large ones I have, It is more of a very smooth gloss black, I wouldn't mind having my car painted with this coating.
Myself, I prefer the smaller size, seems like it would make for me anyway, a better camp knife or at least a "Can I borrow your knife?" knife.

The sheath is of the same style as the large but it has been slightly improved.

For a $12 knife….This gets my best value for the buck award.

Hey KD...

As far as I'm concerned,,you'd be hard pressed to find a better knife for $12.00USD

Quite honestly though I still like the old finish on the bushman better than I do the new..

The new looks too much like spray paint,,although it is a pretty tough finish.

Either way you look at it,, you can't have enough of them for that price...

And nomark makes a great kydex sheath for it.

I have one for the full size bushman as well as for the mini.

The are GREAT !!

Normark does make a serviceable sheath, I must admit!

I love my sheath for the full size Bushman! I would like to try one of these minis. I think the regular one is too large for my preferences. You mentioned that the ATS-34 knife you sharpened didn't feel as sharp. This is something I have noticed ever since I got my first ATS knife. They just never FEEL sharp when I test the edge with my thumb. When carbon steels are well-sharpened they just feel more aggressive. I have several ATS-34 knives that I know are sharp because they cut well, but they feel dull to me. Weird.

Who's selling them for $12? Have only seen them priced at $20. Course, haven't looked far yet. I like my big one, but it sure is big. I got to handle one of the little ones, and think it is a nice knife.

Re the sharpness of ATS34, admittedly, I don't have much experience with it. But 3 of my 5-6 sharpest knives have ATS34. Two of them are CRKT Apaches, and then there's my Wegner. Course, I haven't tried to sharpen them either. I truly believe the sharpest knife I ever got out of a box is my full-size Apache. Or, the little APache 3. Well, maybe my Calypso Jr. Just sliced some paper. Have to give the nod to the Calypso Jr.

I've been slowly savoring about a dozen older knife magazines I bought at the knife show last week. Since most are in 1991, 1994, or 1996, ATS34 is easily the most common steel used in the customs. I'm surprised it would be hard to get it to feel sharp, given it's relatively long ride at the top of the custom pile. At least, if/when I buy customs, I'll expect them to be at least as sharp as my manufactured blades.
