Ok it's narrowed down between the Mini and Mikro. I hear nothing but great things on all BRKTs but I am afraid the mikro may be a bit too micro. It will be for peep friendly daily EDC. Do any of you Mikrp guys ever feel undergunned? It seems like the Mini is a bit more versatile being a "little" big knife and the Mikro is more just for finesse?? Thoughts on either and both?

I've had both, but I kept the Mikro and sold the Mini.

The BRK&T Mikro is one of those little cutters that never stops surprising me at how much it can do.

A lot will depend on what your typical EDC tasks are though as to which one will work best for you.

You can't get more people-friendly than a Mikro, if that's an issue.

Yes, it's small, and it sure isn't "tactical", and no, it's not going to hack the other guy to pieces in a knife fight.

But it is an incredibly useful tool and cuts way bigger than it ought to.

But the Mini is also a great knife too! :D

Both are great little knives. In my experience with the Mikro, I have found that I wished it had a more pronounced point for detailed, "scalpel" work (the Mini is more pointy). Also, the Mikro does seems a bit too "mikro" for many EDC tasks -- even cutting up fruit or cheese, I feel like I'm up to my knuckles in goo most of the time.

Not that it's not strong, it's just a bit short. This coming from a guy who EDC's a SAK Classic and a Spyderco Ladybug.

The only time I've felt my Mikro was too small was cutting through some fruit. The Mini has about 1/2" more blade and 1/2" more handle, but I like my Mikro fine.

If you want a pointier knife, check out the Pro Scalpel. If you want a slightly longer AND pointier knife, you'll have to wait for the Pro Scalpel II. Review HERE

I'm a mini-Canadian guy, but I have only handled a mikro.... I've never "used" one. The mini is small enough in my hand, but big enough for any job. Plus, with its A2 steel, it competes ONLY with a Helle Symfoni scandi grind for the absolute sharpest knife in my collection. The edge is truly "scary".

Man, this is a tough one. After reading this thread last night I took out and played with both my Mikro and my Mini. They are both great knives!! I really don't think you would be disapointed with either. I guess if I was "forced" to have only one, I would keep the Mini. However that would not be cool. (luv'em both.) The first one I purchased was the Mini. Then I saved up to buy the Mikro. (and I'm glad I did.) I too had the same concerns as you. Good luck!! :) Matt

The mini in emergency yellow G10 is on the way.......thing that stinks though is now I need a matching mikro and special:)

Indeed....welcome! Ask your wife or friend to hide your credit card! Also, get ready for convex sharpening and stropping.....only then can you realize the true scare factor of that little mini!

I am probably going to pick up a Mikro2 canadian in stainless. i like A2 but the Stainless2
is thinner. I may look at a PS as well though because I like a point.

As you can see from my similar post a few weeks back, I bought a Mikro. As soon as I got it I thought "this is too small for me". I promptly returned it and have since ordered a Little Creek which should be just right. It's yet to get here but I will definitely post a review once it does.

I have medium hands and I'm accustomed to smaller knives. The Mikro was still too small for me.

Yes, the thick A2 Mikro is pretty beefy. The geometry is excellent, though, and it is quite a little slicer (given the short blade length). I didn't realize that the Mikro2 was thinner stock. The PSII will be very tempting.

EDIT: I don't really use my Mikro very much, due to the very short cutting edge and lack of point. The ironwood is just too nice for me to trade it off, though, and I've already put money into kydex for it.

I really miss my Little Creek proto. The only consolation is that mtnfolk mike is sure to be enjoying the heck out it, and I reckon it gets a lot of carry time with him.

I look forward to your review of the production Little Creek. Like you, I have medium hands and like small-to-moderately-sized fixed blades.

What twisted logic we have! I was thinking gosh I really should get a little neck knife and those PSK's are a great price at DLT. There are times when a neck kinfe will be your best carry option even as small as some of your folders and you new still to arrive Mini Canadian are......You REALLY do need it....you will be lost without it!

Next thing I know I'm placing the order!

I gotta quit now til after Christmas:(

When I carry my Mikro, I only neck carry it. I've seen slender kydex for the Mini that would be great neck carry as well.

The PSK looks sweet though too, and comes with kydex already.

Quitting is for, like...quitters. :D:cool::thumbup:
I think you need at least a Little Creek and a Highland before then.
