i ordered a "lefty" mini commander about a month or so ago. i have not seen one "in person" yet. i was wondering if the blade looks the same on both sides. i have seen some blades that have very nice lines/contours on one side, but the reverse side is just plain and flat. can someone that has experience with the commanders give me info on what to expect when it finally does arrive...
thanks:)

What you described as a plain and flat reverse side is the so called chisel grind. As far as I know, for the Commander series, only the ES1-M has such a grind. All other commanders have a conventional grind (lines/contours on both sides), so also the Mini Commander that you've ordered will have that conventional type of grind.

I believe that nowadays you will only find the chisel grind on Emerson's Tanto blades.

You can expect to see a blade with a conventional V grind. The difference in a Emerson Commander is that, in conjunction with that V grind, one side at the edge, will be flat. The other side will have a secondary bevel. Kind of conventional and unconventional at the same time. Take a close look at the edge on both sides when you get it. You'll see the difference.
