Just ordered 2 of them, 1 for my brother's birthday and 1 for me, he's not a knifenut but he likes nice tool with fine design, plus, it'll be cool to own the same knife for years.

Emerson are hard to find here, so I ordered the version available right now (mini, black, combo edge), I think that a regular cqc7 with satin finih and plain edge would be a better choice (more esthetic), so help me to have no regret and tell me all the positive aspect of a mini, black and partialy serrated cqc-7 !

Regards.

I ordered one too last week when I saw them come in stock. Just looked and they're sold out now where I bought mine. Its really tough finding what you want in stock and when you do you can't hesitate or they're gone!

BTW, I just purchased a mini A100 SFS too.

I have a stonewashed CQC7 in plain edge, and I love it. I held the mini and found it too small for my liking. I also prefer plain edges over combo ones since they are easier to sharpen, cut just as well and look better imo.

Also, since I am a collector I don't tend to 'settle' for the first thing that comes along. I looked for ages for my 1. CQC7 2. stonewashed finish 3. plain edge until I found a prestige dealer carrying them. I came across multiple combo edges and BT finishes but was really thankful in the end for holding on.

I am also in NZ, where there are no Emersons at all. So I had to get it overseas. My advice is in the future, if you really want your CQC7 in satin and plain edge, then look online until you find it. You may have to pay a bit closer to retail and wait til it gets to France, but for a knife you will be owning for many many years to come, a few extra dollars and a small wait will be negligible in the long run. This is just my opinion :)

As for positives, it is still an Emerson. If you are trying to get a small knife to avoid scaring people when you edc it, then a mini might be better than a super or regular sized knife. But the black tactical look and serrations might counter act it. If you have smaller hands, you might prefer the ergonomics more.. If you are travelling to a place with a blade length limit, then the shorter blade will help comply with that. The serrations could be useful as well, but I have yet to experience a serrated edge that cuts better than a sharp plain edged knife. Even on stuff like rope etc where I thought serrations would be an advantage. But a plain edge would give you more cutting area which could be more useful in edc..

Thanks, I'll give you some feedback on my feeling after EDC this little toy.

Just got mine, wow...quite a bit of knife in a smaller package. I think this will become a real favorite of mine.

Any CQC-7 is a great buy. I think it's best model out of the whole lot. I'm sure you'll love it and get much use out of it. Don't be afraid to use it to its fullest potential. Don't abuse it, but it's made to be heavily used.

On a different note, can you tell me what the knife carry limitations and laws are in France?

I love my mini CQC7 ! :) and my CQC7. I too settled for black with serrations and do not really regret it since I have no patience to wait till one that I preferred pops up.

Perfect EDC size.
