The next purchase:
A small tactical folder for EDC. I currently carry a mini cqc-7b, but my brother is an emerson fan, and is hounding me for it.

Soooooo....I'm looking for a new one. Aren't I generous? I don't mind used knives as long as they are in good working condition, and have narrowed down the search. I'd like some advice first though. :)

I am looking for some input, a compare and contrast if you will, between the Emerson mini CQC-7a, the Strider/Buck SB2 spear point, and the Spyderco Paramilitary.

I currently EDC a Large Dyad on the boat for work, but am looking for something slightly smaller for edc on the days off to complement my SAKs. These three knives are the final selection, and before I buy one, I want an idea of their pros and cons from people who've actually had one or used one.

I think any of these three would make a good utility/self defense knife, utility being their primary use.

I want to keep the blade between 2.9 and 3.2 inches, so any other suggestions would need to be in that size range. The handle scales need to be G-10 or micarta, and a liner lock or lockback is prefered.

Well ladies and gents, thanks in advance for input, comments, and advice. :D

i'd say have a look at their specs and look at some pics. the buck-strider sb2 is the "mini-buck strider",right? well, that thing i still quite bulky even though it's smaller, so i don't think you'd like that one. the emerson is basically a variant of something you already have. if you really like your B, then by all means get that A. the spyderco is also nice, but it has a fiddly compression lock on top, which could be kind of awkward if you prefer linerlocks or lockbacks. you might want to broaden your horizon somewhat, beyond just these 3 you named, and give it some good thought....

Thanks Dennis.
I am leaning heavily towards the mini cqc-7a, but i wanted to get some advice on the other two. mainly I like the handle shape of the a, simple and very secure. I've got small hands, and the knife sits very very well. Now, to find a used one. :D

my brother's going to be very happy if he gets the mini cqc-7b :)

thanks again.

hi.
i too edc a mini cqc7-b and have small hands.
how do you like the size of the mini cqc7-b?
because when i got my paramilitary i found it to be rather large.
the blade is very broad and the handle fills my hand just a little more.
it takes up an above-average amount of pocket space.
see if you can handle the knife before you buy;
i definitely like my edc size (my mini cqc) just as it is.
i'll use the paramillie as a camp knife.
i'd pick a mini cqc7-a of those three for utility/sd edc.
good luck with your decision.
