mini cqc7 question

Hello everyone, new guy here. I have been getting into knives lately and is quickly becoming an expensive but very fun experience. I really want an emerson mini cqc7. I love tanto points and part. serrated black blades. So it seems like a perfect fit. It will be for EDC so I want the mini.

My question is about the overall thickness of the knife when closed. I just bought a cheap buck strider( i believe 889 sbmf ) and is a great knife for $50 but is a little to thick and chunky for edc in my pocket. I want something a little thinner. Dosen't have to be paper thin but thiner than that buck strider.

Also, should I buy the wave or non waved version if I decide to go this route? How easy is the non-waved version to open one handed? Sorry for so many questions in one post but $120 on one knife for me is a lot but could be worth it if I am sure it will be the right fit. Thanks for your replies in advance. Oh yeah, great forum here, lots of good info!

the mini '7 is lots thinner than a buck/strider, and carries much much easier, either the std or mini '7 makes an excellent pocket knife,

the wave is cool and all, i would get it if possible, it really does add to the utility of the knife.

that said i mostly carry custom emersons and most of them are not waved so i have gotten used to living without it myself, but it is a cool thing to have.

do ya need a mini '7 for legal reasons, or ya just want something easy to carry? if its just ease of carry look at the std '7 too, and the SOCFK, a waved '7 on a specwar handle, great knife, lots better than the '7 imho, cheaper too. point being they all carry pretty well, i doubt that would be a problem.

i also prefer the non serrated blades, but to each his own i guess.

I've got a Emerson Kerambit, and love the wave feature. I looked at the mini CQC 7s and liked them quite a bit myself... very good size and weight.

I'm pretty sure they don't make the mini cqc-7b without the wave anymore. But even if they do I would highly recommend you get the waved version. Not to use every time you open the knife but if you only have one hand available or in an emergency where seconds count. My 2 cents.

Thank you for your replies. I am set on getting one now for edc but it is a pain to try and find one in stock anywhere at this time. I just called elite tactical sources but left a message. Hopefully they will get back to me. Any more suggesstions?

I have tried those and many others. No one has them in stock and they all tell me it will be march before they get them in. Don't know if I can wait that long. Any more suggesstions?

I have several of the Emerson knives. My Favorite EDC is the CQC7B waved. I also have the mini which is often carried as a back up.

tried them all and no one has an minis in stock. They say it will be March or April when they get the next ones in.

Yes I did, I called them and got the same answer, none until March. Thank you for trying to help though, I will try any site that might have them. Thanks again.

Dadgummit! They ought to update their website to show whether their stock is sold out or not. I was thinking about buying one myself from them. :grumpy:

Hit the check availability button and it shows the big 0.

You just missed one in the for sale section here on the forums.

They are very hard to find in stock...I have checked and called a bunch of places.

I really appreciate your time. I hope you do find one for me as long as you don't buy it first, haha! Thanks again.
