Just got a minicyclone zdp -unfortunatly the thumbstuds on this design don't work for me. Does anyone know what is involved/process to non-destructivly remove them? Some other questions: Any idea if there is a dull gray or black clip to replace the bright and shiny one that comes on the knife? Is there a single sided thumbstud that would be a screw in replacement? Diameter of hole in the blade for the thumbstud is?

I don't own one so I'm not sure, but just from looking at a couple of pics, those look like the same thumb studs that are on my CRKT Crawford/Kasper folder, and those screw together. A pair of pliers on each side took mine off with just a little scratching of the studs.

For replacement options, check knifekits.com. They'll probably have something that will work for you.

If they are screw type , they are secured with loctite or similiar.

You need to gently heat that loctite for it to come loose and not mar the studs or blade.

the thumbstud can just be pressed or hammered out. i used a vise

This is the correct way. I just did mine and pressed it in. Tom Krein just reground mine and sent it back minus the stud. He shipped it to me and I pressed it in . It is a one piece stud.!!

As has been said they just press out.

Use a board with a slightly larger hole and a c-clamp.... presto!
