I've been grinding like crazy for a while now and have a big 'ol batch of blades back from heat treat, plus more in the bevel grinding phase, a couple folder projects in the works, new designs, etc. Been very busy and that's a good thing but I realized I hadn't posted anything here in a while so here is one I just finished up this evening for a local. A Mini Drop Point XL in 154CM with olive drab camo G-10 and blue liners.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice Jonny, your grinds are exceptionally clean!

Thank you very much guys! I delivered the blade to the customer today, who was very pleased, so I'm a happy camper on this one!
I appreciate the feedback.

Looks great!

How are you contouring the scales? What thickness did you start with?

Hey Johnathan,
Thanks buddy!
On my handles, I grind the tubes down flat to the scales, then I knock the corners off of the handle on the grinder at a 45 degree angle. After that it's all free hand. I use an 8 inch wheel on the KMG and my spindle sander with a 3/4" sleeve to transition the 45 degree bevel into the handle and finalize the general shape, then I hit it with 150 grit paper to begin the smoothing process and usually go down to 600 grit.

Very nice. It's getting to where I can spot your work without seeing your mark, and I mean that as a compliment

I must admit I'm a little confused about it being a "mini-XL" but that's probably just me :D

Jon, I love how your plunge line transitions with a wide radius into your top grind line. Very nice.

That is NICE nice!
When I first saw the thread the other day, I thought I didn't like it.
I was 100 percent wrong.

Erik and James, thanks guys! Erik, those plunge transitions aren't always easy and tend to be good source of frustration for me on a regular basis!:D

LOL, I appreciate the change in opinion, but I have to ask.....what happened in the last couple days to change your mind?:)

I don't know?
I think I was hung up on....what would I do with that.
Now, I realize....EVERYTHING!

Cool, thanks for the response. Some of my knives are specialized, but many of my models are meant to be used for all kinds of different things. I carry one like this often in the shop and at my day job running a tavern and use it all the time. One thing to remember is that many of my fixed blade models measure in at under 7 inches in overall length, which makes them very easy to carry and use just about anywhere.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my work. You aren't that mean after all!:D;)
