I'm really liking working with bone lately. Here is one of my Mini Drop Point XL's with root beer jigged bone handles with blue G-10 liners. Had a piece of N680 nitrogen stainless steel that Chuck at AKS gave me to try out a while back and this is what came of half of it. If I recall it's supposed to be comparable to 440C. It finishes nicely. I had Peters harden it to 59RC.

This one still needs a sheath and sharpening and some more fine sanding/polishing on the handle but it's pretty much there.

I like that, especially the jigged bone. Very nice. How big is the lanyard tubing? The larger ones like that appeal to me.

Nice work, sir. I haven't ventured into using bone but I suppose I should try it sometime. Is it much different than working with any other handle materials?

Chainring, I use 3/8" outside diameter stainless tubing for my lanyard tubes. I get mine at onlinemetals.com.

Paul, I like working with bone. It sands easier than G-10 so you have to be light with the grinder, but it shapes nicely and it's easy to get a really high gloss finish if that's what you're after. I found that hand sanding to 600 wet and then a quick buff with green compound gives a nice finish. It's a bit more expensive than G-10 or Micarta but worth it if you're going for a more classic look. I think I might use it on a fairly regular basis.

I have to say, you have a good eye for knives. Your blades are really eye-catching and look like they would fit the hand nicely as well.
