Mini EU-17 on e-bay

I have a question, as a newcomer I am confused by a couple of knifes on e-bay currently. There are what appears to be 2 EU-17's. One states it is the new "mini" with a 6" blade, the other does not state it is a "mini", but looks exactly like the "mini"- and says it has a 7" blade.

The question is: Do the original EU-17's have a 7" blade, or is this guy listing a mini and is being "less precise" about the specs? (I did search old threads and Jerry Busse's post back in May '05ish introducing the MINI EU-17 stated it had a 6 inch blade).

Thanks for the help, I want to get a Busse, but also want to know what I am buying.

Homeontherange, I am the one who has the Mini EU-17 on e-bay. Thought I should disclose that upfront.

According to Badmojo.tv they have an "EU-17" under "Mil overuns" and list it as having a 7" blade. They do not call it a "mini", but I do not know. From this it looks as though one of the 2 previous "EU-17" models did have a 7" blade.

The "mini EU-17" I have listed has a 6" blade (give or take mm's for different angles of blade and handle).

Hope that helps.

BTW- I really do not care if you bid on it. I am giving due process for the sake of my wife. Grad school, no "real" job currently- just hours of free labor at the hospital for training. I told her I would try to sell it.

Hogs, you will love this part. My wife came by while I had the Mini EU-17 out listing it on e-bay. She picks it up and handles it for a second or two and proceeds to ask me "Can I use this thing in the kitchen?" It was like the beautiful Busse was crying out for some use, and she could her it.

Okay, here's the deal. The seller selling the "7 inch" MINI is probably measuring from the micarta to the tip, whereas the other guy is probably measuring the length of the edge. That's my guess.
And don't forget to check out the other Busse items on eBay too! (wink wink)

The real question is do we need people to come on here and always point out the ebay ads to us! It's freaking annoying in my opinion and in bad taste to say the least!:thumbdn:

It doesn't bother me AS LONG AS there is something interesting going on. Like the question about the miniEU17s. Sometime someone has a question about a certain auction or there is a rare item worth mentioning.
But YES, there has been too much eBay pointing lately.

If they have a question then they should email the seller! Why does the average joe on here who pays for a membership to supplement his next knife purchase have to compete with eslave!! Not to mention someone who has one posting! Doesn't it seem FISHY to you!! I think that most of us Hogs know how to find eslave on our own and if you want to buy a knife from over there then maybe you should put it on your favorites and check it every day!:grumpy:

I posted the one about the HD, not mine, and I will never do it again.

I promise.

Bravado, point taken. Sorry to offend by my reply to homeontherange.

I do not like the accusations however. I saw there was a question, and answered it to the best of my ability, after doing research- to help someone out. I was clear that I was the one who had it listed- that is obviously why the post caught my attention.

Naysaying and tangents of your "annoyances" is not helpful to the rest of us. We are not all 4 year members of the forum and some of us do not know everything- so we ask! The sad part is "the eating of the young" makes newbeeis feel intimidated to post and does not support the growth of the forum or Busse Combat.

Feel free to disrespect me if you like, I am sure it makes you feel stronger, maybe you would like to put your Karambit in my eye socket-

mayfly-

I know the type of people you speak of with this remark. I can see how his post could resemble one of "those" people but I don't think he or anyone else on the Busse forum is like that. Atleast none that I've come across.

Hey it's your perogative if you or anyone else wants to sell on ebay and not contribute the $25.00 for a membership here then, so be it. And as with most forums and life in general, respect is generally earned. Most of us Hogs have thick skin and we roll with the punches or jokes that we throw at each other, so don't feel intimidated or put off by my off the cuff remarks. I don't really take it that seriously and neither should you.

I still think that if someone has a question about an item that it should be okay for them to post here. First of all, we're probably going to know more than the seller; Second, we can give an unbiased opinion.

Hey go for it! I'm not in charge here, I was just expressing my opinon that I think it's in bad taste to make reference to ebay ads here.

I do find it interesting that both mayfly and hotr both use the same ISP...

I also wonder why the blatantly confrontational "BTW- I really do not care if you bid on it..." remark came up when there was nothing confrontational in the original post.

Are you in fact the same person, drawing attention to your own knife??

I really don't have a problem with people coming here to ask questions to get "expert" answers vs a sellers response. For all we know, the prospective buyer may have already contacted the seller and not gotten the information he was looking for.

I also don't have a problem with anyone coming here and scooping us on blades on other sites, provided that the person posting does not have any interest in the knife being sold. It's that simple.

In this situation, I am curious though if both are the same person.....:thumbdn:

Get some popcorn Mom, could be a fight. :D

Bravado comes out swinging...Mayfly bobs and weaves...

Quick left hook, and... Where the heck is Cobalt... running naked making raptor sounds??
