Mini Grip question

I have a bnib 440c 556 SBT Mini Griptilian MDP. What year did this come out? Is there anything 'special' about this knife?

I believe the Griptilian started in 2001. Not sure when the mini grip showed up.

Around 2007 they changed from 440c to 154cm.

So your knife is somewhere in between.

Is there anything special about it?

Not really.

Nothing special about it at all. The BT2 coating on it sucks compared to the BK coating on newer ones. 440C was upgraded to 154CM because of better edge retention and toughness.

440C remains a good stainless steel. 154CM might outshine it but not by much. SBT means partially serrated, and BT2 would be my choice over anything coated in BK. Use it well.
