Mini-grip question

So I have finally acquired my first Benchmade, a mini-grip. While I checked at the store for blade play, what I missed is that the blade is not centered in the frame (quite noticeable at the tip). The blade looks straight, just not lined up within the frame. Is this typical or should I see about returning it for another?

Both of my mini grips are like that. It doesnt bother me. If you have a black coated blade it may scratch the finish if the blade hits the scales on the way in and out. Benchmade might fix it for you if you send it in.

Agreed.

A blade that's not perfectly centered is no big deal.

If it's actually rubbing the side however, I'd send it in.

Sounds like it's one of those things that, as long as it's not rubbing, some folks put up with and us OCD types (of which I'm sure there are one or two here) will just be bothered by, especially right out of the box. I'll probably see if they have any that are more centered at the store and exchange. Thanks for the input.

That used to drive me crazy, too.

Even tightened just right, the blade still seems to be off to the left just a bit, on all my Mini Griptilians. It doesn't hit the scale, though, and the overall quality of the knife outweighs the blade alignment.

Which is an odd statement about the Mini Grip, considering everyone seems to think they look cheap until they handle one, and some even then. :D

I have sent a couple of new minis in and BM has made them perfect. I'll put up with a very tiny bit of misalignment, but not much. If other companies can properly align the blades in their entry-level knives, there's no reason BM can't do it, too.

It took a couple of weeks and they both came back dead-center and stayed that way.

Well, they had one that was pretty well centered, so I exchanged. Of course while there I was sorely tempted to get the full size Grip for the same price as the mini ($56 and change). But after picking up the Mini-grip and a Mini-Pika II yesterday, I figgered I 'd wait a bit.
