mini grip vs grip

So I just received my M4 Ritter full sized grips (123 and 124, I ordered 2)....

While the knife is about perfect looking (no marks, centered, etc, though not supper sharp point and the clips are, hmmm, used looking, esp. on the 124), I was a bit surprised by the handle.

I had never touched a full sized grip before and I didn't realize that the grips are kinda different in terms of the size of the textures. I really prefer the 'grippiness' of the mini over the full sized...i was kinda surprised really on how much less i like the jimping and the textures...

Am I the only one that feels that way about the grips?

No, not really. To me, the differences between the two make them almost completely different knives. The other thing that's different is the relationship of the liners to the scales. The large grips have more "unsupported" plastic so they feel and sound different. There is nothing at all wrong with the large Grip functionally, however.

the lack of full liners in the full size grip makes it feel hollow and cheap to me. it doesn't feel like a benchmade should.

it doesnt take long to get over !!! the full size grip is an excellent and durable work knife that will give you years of reliable service!

I much prefer the Minis to the full sized Grips. The size of the large knives puts me off carrying them as much as the minis, and if I'm heading out picnicking or camping I'll take a fixed blade.

I do, however, carry a full sized Grip in my fire jacket when I'm on duty and I wouldn't want to sell any of my 12+ Grips.

I have to agree with JNewell and Freedom. They captured what I was thinking better than I did.

The griptilian feels like a different knife to me than the mini, and I think the mini is a great feeling knife and i just don't get that with the grip. Maybe I will later.

It must be a YMMV thing, because I find the Grip has a strong and ergonomic handle that will handle significant abuse. When I handle a regular Grip, I feel a successful marriage of design and materials engineering, but perhaps it is just me.
