Mini Griptilian blade?

So I've been mulling over a back up to my beloved M390 Ritter Mini Griptilian. My plans have changed from the production 20CV Drop Point to a Custom Shop M4 Tanto(purple and orange perhaps, haha). Both are desirable, but I really can't decide on which I want. There's a lot of hate for Americanized Tanto's(and a lot of love), so my question to this forum is what would you prefer yourself, and why.

If I could get a Ritter blade in M4 that's exactly what I'd do, but I am not looking to spend $400 on a knife that I could get custom built for $145. I'm really leaning towards the Tanto because I do like Benchmade's Tanto shape, it looks like I could beat on it, which is the plan for this knife. I'd appreciate any responses, and thank you in advance.

I should add that I was going to create a poll, but that doesn't offer a lot of room for feedback, which is what I'm primarily looking for. Not a generic "the Drop point is more useful", I'd like to know why you think that.

Get what cha like, go for the tanto. U already have the ritter go for the different and u might even like it better. Both will be useful in their own rite. Good luck

That's why I'm leaning towards the Tanto. The drop point and the Ritter are like close relatives(except the Ritter should slice a bit better). This knife'll be a Christmas present to myself and I think going custom may make it that much more special.
