Mini griptilian factory angle?

There is no standard factory angle as they are all sharpened by hand. The consensus is that the typical angle is about 40 degrees inclusive. However many of my Benchmades have come with a wider angle and I've had to reprofile them down to 40 degrees.
 
My bm943 has been sharpened with a 40 degrees angle and it is perfectly sharp
 
The edges from Benchmade are usually sharp, but the angle is always very steep 40° inclusive or greater. The angle is not always consistent for the length of the blade either which only makes things worse. I've had the same bad experience with Microtech so Benchmade is not the only offender. I don't know why Spyderco or ZT for example can do a proper edge while some other makers in the same price range can't...
 
My D2 Griptillian came from the factory with 22 on one side and 20 on the other. I had it reprofiled to 20 per side at a local knife store that has paper wheels for sharpening, now I can keep it maintained easily on the Sharpmaker. Of course, with D2 I don't have to do much maintaining.
