I found a deal on a mini-grip 555 with the thumb hole. I had once desired one of these then lost interest for some reason. Maybe it was the axis lock or my enfatuation with flippers. However, at substantial discount below msrp plus a gift card this knife tempts me once more. Should I jump on this? Any reason to pass on the mini-grip from current owners?

Get it. A mini-grip is an excellent knife (once you get past the scales) for light edc. Great blade, good ergos, and a great addition to any collection.

I have the 557 556 ....very compact little knives but they works great...very easy to flick open /close. Just a solid knive all around. IDK about the 555 thumb hole though...for some reason I think thumb hole belongs to Spyderco...that's just me.

If you are worried about the plastic-y feel get a 707. Basically the same knife. It's worth the extra bucks if you're like me and don't like that feel.

Then who does the thumb stud belong to? I prefer the hole over the stud for non assisted knives anyway. It just does not feel right for me. I jumped on one and I can't wait until it arrives. Thanks all for the feedback.

Why does everyone like the mini grips but not the reg ones I find the mini grip is way too small

I just got the regular grip and its true its to big to edc for me . The handle feels cheap and when in the pocket it takes to much space . The mini grip is tops for edc small compact , strong lock up , and great tip on the blade . For the price range of $65 IMO the best knife you can get .

I keep looking at them but never do it... there always seems to be something else on the list. I am sure sooner or later I will get around to it...

The Mini-Grip is my only Benchmade so far, and it's given me a really good impression of the brand.

My favorite light use EDC blade.

My wife did NOT like knives at all. I got her the pink mini in sheepsfoot and it changed her life. She carries it all the time! Now she has a dragonfly 2 for work purposes. I really recommend the mini grip.

I've always liked them but always seemed to find something else I liked a little better when I was buying another knife. I finally ordered a 556 a couple weeks ago and liked it enough to turn around and order a sand 555. The sheepsfoot is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

That's one solution.

Here's another.

I liked mine well enough to put Wilkins scales on it.
