The axis lock is hard. To pull to close the blade. I've had the knife about a year but only carried 5 times. What can I try?

Take it apart and look at the springs to see if their ok or it's really dirty in their. Clean it.That would be my guess.

Maybe there's a pebble stuck in there or something. If you don't want to try and fix it yourself, package it up and send it out to Benchmade for a repair.

Try using both sides of the axis lock with finger and thumb. Sometimes one sided operation might be a little stiffer. If it is difficult using both sides, something might possibly be wrong. It should also get easier and smoother with use.

If it's just sticking use it more and it will smooth out. It will usually stick worse if you flick it open hard vs a slow opening.

OH MAN!
You gotta cycle the action a bunch - play with it: Open close open close open close open close...
If that doesn't fix it, send it to Benchmade, and your problem will be solved shortly, even though it doesn't seem like you're in that urgent of a need for it back, since you've barely carried it.

With such a little used knife I would NOT take it apart. Most of my knives smoothed/worked in after repeated cycles. It's probably not a lack of lube, BKC tends to apply plenty in the process, but a drop of whatever you have on the pivots could help, as well as backing off the pivot a little with your T10 torx. Lastly as said above, maybe a trip to the Spa is in order if your issues continue.
