I got the UBDOTD M43 with that "wierd hump" today.
I like it! Kesar does a really good job, this is my first one of his.

17 3/4" OAL
13" blade
3 1/4" drop

I notice that this has a really large sweet spot, and what look like white oak karda and chakuma. Great sheath, all steel fittings, and oh yeah, the bolster is not forged as part of the blade (sombody asked Uncle).

Overall, pretty cool.

One more thing, you say "Why Mini-Hanshee M43?" Because it is fun to say...thats why... say it 3 times fast....see what I mean?:D

Thanks for report from the field, Dave. Old faithful does pretty decent work. Why he put the "hump" in this one I can't say -- probably because he felt like it.

Hey Dave, have you done anythink with the finish on your Mini-Hanshee M43? I just recived my M43 and am thinking of doing a hand rubbed Tung oil finish.:D

All I have done is rub some of Birchwood Casey's Tru-oil into the handle and wipe off all the "red stuff" (as we so fondly call it) as I possibly can.

Hasnt done anything bad...I say go for it! I did a Tru-oil finish to my 18" AK, and I love it!:D

Hey, Dave: If the infamous "Red Stuff" is not coming loose, You can use Murphy's oil soap to clean it off. Walosi, Woodchuck at Large,:D answered a thread that I posted about Rouge removal from my Chitlangi handle. Let me know if you want or need this info, as it really did a good job on my extremely red handled Chit.

I dont mind the red stuff all that much. Just the stuff that comes off on you as it is used.

And thanks for reminding me about the Murphy's. I need to go pick some up.:)

I just got done using Murphy's oil soap to clean off the "red stuff". It worked rather well.:) Now to wait for the handle to dry so I can start rubbing Tung Oil into it.:):)
