Hello,
This is my first time posting on the custom side of the house.
I was looking on www.knifeart.com at some of Allens pieces. This particular knife runs for $450 and I was wondering if anybody can give me tips/sites to look at for better prices. Or is this a good price. I find myself going back and staring at the picture and reading the literature. I really do like the integral lock, and this would be a handsome knife to carry in my waistband. I am considering breaking away from my microtech collection.
Any information or opinions you gentleman can give me would be greatly appreciated.

PS the closest I've came to one of Allens knives is a BM autostryker.

I just noticed that one of the moderators is knifeart. I wasn't knocking your site on prices. Being in the financial place I am now I figure it wouldn't hurt to shop around.
I realize I am going to have to pay for quality.
Thankyou

Good idea on the Microtech thing, IMO. If you pay for custom quality, (and them some.) you should at least get a REAL custom. Now, KnifeArt is AWESOME to deal with, and the integral mini-Specter is a VERY good choice, IMO. For me, it came down to that one, and my small Apogee. I got the Apogee since I already have an Elishewitz, and I wanted to get a taste of other's work.

Allen's prices are going to be the same, where ever you look. Dealers have to do that so their is no competition with the maker.

Ode,
Jackyl was correct regarding dealer/purveyor prices - for new pieces they will be the same - with used pieces there may be some reduction for minor scratches/blemishes - honest dealers will be upfront about this. Larry at KnifeArt is great to deal with & has nice selection. If you choose carefully you will definately get your money's worth with customs - nothing aqainst MicroTech but with Allen's work you will definately be getting a very superior product at a reasonable price.
Have fun deciding - you won't regret the higher cost once you handle the knife you decide on.

Thankyou very much for the information. I know what you mean Penquin when you say the price isn't so bad once you handle the knife.
That is a true knife enthusists statement. I try to look objectively at the knife/money thing.
Thanks for your help.
