Mini-Jungle: Tactical value?

Hi everybody!

I was just wondering; Can you order that Edgeworks-scabbard along with any of your khukuris? I'm starting to get interested in the Mini-Jungle model, and maybe it would be a perfect choice for a tactical blade. Especially if one could have it with a kydex-rig.

How would you rate the Mini-Jungle for such a purpose anyway?

Thanks for maintaining this great forum!

Hi Seax, it probably isn't the best idea to answer before the 'group elders', but WTF, I'm going to bed in a minute. Any, yes, any khurkri may be considered to be an effective tactical blade.
I personally wouldn't start out by getting a mini-jungle, because you will only realise that something more, well, beefy would have been more appropriate...
I would suggest a WWII to start. A 'medium' kind of khurkuri.
Funniest thing is, once you have one, you will treasure it so much that the other knives you use will become weak and kind of, ooh, how can I put it, crappy.
There isn't any arguments about it. Best tac blade you can get.

Seax, I like what you're thinking about the Mini-Jungle. While I can't directly speak to all of these points, you might want to go back and check out the thread, "Mini-Jungle, my constant companion." The most recent post was on Nov. 13th. Blackdog put some photos up that show the MJ with a Bowie knife, and made some interesting observations there.

Even though the MJ isn't a true chopper and or my favorite khukuri, it does get the most use. There are many tactical knives I admire, but I haven't gotten around to buying any, especially since I started buying khukuris. If thrusting motions are part of your definition of what makes a knife tactical, a khukuri might not be exactly what you want. Otherwise, they do so many things so well and are really very sturdy. Also, if you require a smaller size than a SN1 or WW2, and won't need to chop big trees, then the MJ might be right for you. The price makes it a painless quest, that's for sure. Being a real MJ fan, I think you'll find yourself using it a whole lot. I would suggest that if you have big hands to ask Craig for one with a bigger than usual handle.

There seem to be a fair number of folks doing Kydex sheaths. They're all custom made, and Craig is sure to bring you up to speed if you e-mail him and ask.

Welcome to the forum, and I hope I've said something of use to you. --Dan

Hi,

I actually have ONE kydex sheathed Panawal sitting around here somewhere. It's the normal Panawal price, plus $50.00 for the sheath.

Contact me if interested.

Thanks Dan, and David!

Your advice is most appreciated. I have already decided to order a WWII. I will send you my order in a couple of days Craig. I'll probably order a SN1 along with it. The Panawal sounds tempting though. I will let you know Craig.

Walk on.

Seax, you've made a very wise choice by going with the WW2. What everybody says is true about it being the best all around and the one to have if you had to pick just one. I 'spect you'll get a real good idea if you'll want to go up or down in size from there. Congratulations.
