I have a growing selection of mini knives and was wondering if anyone manufactures mini khukuris. I saw one on the HI andale site, but it was 6" long. Even though it is obviously much smaller that a full size khukuri, I was hoping to find something 5" or smaller.

Anybody have one or know where to get them? or see them online?

What about a custom make? I'd be willing to pay good cash for a nicely made mini.

Saw some at a recent Arms show on a
used-abused-stuff-n'such gimme table.
They were between 3-4 inches in sheath if
I recallcorrectly. I did not check quality
or price. Just letting you know of the possibilities.
Good Luck.

Bill,

Can you make a custom that is smaller? say, around 4-5 inches? and include a sheath?

There was that one itty bitty khukri that Yvsa had at the Catoosa show last year...it was the "HI Sailing club Khukri" or something like that??? It was literally a Mini AK. IIRC???

That's our standard kagas katne -- made just like our big khukuris.

The kothimoda I have looks like a mini kothimoda but it's a true letter opener -- brass blade with beautiful little kothimoda scabbard. It's to lay on the desk and look beautiful and interesting. It'll cut soft butter if you want to use it as a butter knife.

All looks and no guts.

Nephew Dawi IIRC the one you're speaking of is around 9" oal. It's the CBCK for Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club again IIRC.;)
Without going to a search and looking for the old thread it seems as if someone in the CBYC had a 15" AK and it was used in the demolition of their meeting buliding and club house for renovations.
They literally tried to destroy the AK and oc course it came through with flying colors as usual.
The club members were so impressed with the AK they made a special order for the CBCK to commemorate their building again IIRC as it's been a long while back since the thread or subject has came up.

Welcome to the Cantina Pendentive & Ddean if I haven't already bid y'all welcome.:)
There's been so many new people here lately I can't keep up with them!!!!

On the subject of small khukuris for collecting or possible kitchen use the little 6" Kagas Katne may be able to have an application somewhere. It's a "real" khukuri in the sense that it will take and hold a very decent edge just like the big ones.
A couple of more would be the CBCK @ about 9" and the Royal Dhankuta at around 12" would be fine.

The absolute smallest khukuri that H.I. has is the little silver model tie tacs if you can consider it a khukuri.

It would really confuse and confirm to the kamis of BirGhorka that us American's are totally, absolutely crazy if someone ordered a 2" working steel model along with a GRS or Janawar Katne.:D

So these are good steel, hardened fairly well, etc...and come with a scabbard ? If they're close in that way to a regular khukuri then I might be buying some as gifts :) <br>

Thanks Yvsa! Glad to have found (stumbled) my way here. What's this pile of steel blocking the doorway?!?

I've been lurking for a while...

My sentiments exactly. In fact, I would go for a collection of 4", 5", 6", 7", 8" and 9" khukuris. Perhaps even in a handy box or stand to allow for easy/quick access. Or better yet, on one long stretch of leather to wear, or put on my wall. Then whenever I needed one, just pop it out and use it. (psst... please don't tell my spouse :D )

Sidenote tidbit

Having lived in Guatemala amongst the Kekchi and Pokomchi natives for 2 years, I have learned that there is no limit to the usage of a knife.

Here's a sampling of the usages I came across down there:
(the machetes ranged in size from 22" to 34", and you got your first one at age 8!)
Lawnmower
Grave Digger
Sodbuster
Tree Chopper
Oven Cleaner
Disciplinary (used like a paddle)
Toothpick
Shaving
Cutting Steps into clay
Cutting Steps into Rock
Build an entire house with 1 machette and a very long rope.
Nutcracker
Nail Trimmer
Hair cutter
Tattoo
Branding cattle
Butchering (of course)

and lastly,
Cut off your neighbor's hand when you suspect him cheating on you - I was there... ouch! not nice. :(

Just imagine all the things you would never have to buy! :D :D

This little Seven inch WWII presentation mini Khuk is on the way to me. I will post some better pictures when I get it. The white part is ivory. I need to ask the Khuk Expert, John Powell, for a better evaluation. He knows all!

Shall I order 100 minis in the 4 to 7 inch range?

For old timers only -- we'll ask Sher to make them.
