I found that my local Galyans had 30% off on all Case knives so I decided that I'd finally pick up the pocket hunter that I'd wanted and while I was at it, I also bought a Tiny Trapper.
-The Pocket Hunter is actually alot more stout than I would have thought it to be. The clip point and skinner blades are ground to a nice polished edge and neither exhibit any play. Action is very snappy and the springs feel strong even though the knife is so small. The handle scales are "pocket worn" antique bone and are finished very nicely, no rough edges here! This knife reminds me of the Spyderco Mouse. Small but surprisingly tough. I see this one being a nice side-kick to my Sebbie and wharncliffe trapper.
-The Tiny Trapper was a whole different story unfortunately. The blades were ground well and both had sharp edges but the fit of the springs and the handle were very sloppy. The spey blade has alot of vertical play (yes I know it's a slipjoint
) when open and it even had some side to side wiggle. Otherwise, the scales of 6.5 Bonestag look great and the knife is very comfortable to hold despite it's size. I feel that the overall thickness of this little guy helps it too be alot easier to handle than a thinner knife would be. Overall, this one may end up as a pocket watch knife, but more realistically it will probably go back to the store for a replacement.
Thanks,
Matt
