Just bought a mini mag-lite with camouflage finish. The problem is that scratches appear on it, i had never seed that on that kind of flashlights. Looks like the camouflage color is less resistant than other models. Is that a manufacturing problem ?

They just paint the camo over the aluminum case, so it scratches off easier than if they had done something that required a little more thought and cost. Is it a manufacturing defect? No, an engineering defect? Probably.

The original Mini-Mag camo had an anodized finish (I have one), I'm sure they stopped making them because of the cost. The newer camo versions have the "painted" finish that is not as durable.

Don't worry about the scratches. It's a security feature. Now if you drop the light in the woods, you will be able to see the scratches and find it. Otherwise, it would disappear with the camo.:p

Why not get a SureFire E2e-CJ which has a Jungle Camo Hard Anodise...

I have one and whilst it's not as resistant as natural "grey" HA Level III, it's more tough then standard SureFire black (Level II) anodise.

Respectfully,

Al
