Hey everyone,

I know from another thread that most of us here are flashlight gurus as well as knife gurus. Some of you may already have this, but I thought it might help others who don't. I recently put together a kind of camping/bug out backpack with lots of gear in it (I will make a thread with pics soon). One piece of equip I wanted to get was a small, less powerful but more battery conservative and easier to get batteries for flashlight than my Surefires. I got a Mini Maglite 2AA LED flashlight with hi, lo, blink, SOS signal modes, and a "candle" option where you turn on the beam and take the flashlight head off and use it as a stand which lights up a room very well. I must say that I am VERY impressed with this little flashlight, and I think it's a good option for anyone looking for a small but powerful and good battery life flashlight for a bug out bag, or camping gear. Here's a bit more information: http://www.light-reviews.com/mini_maglite_led_2aa/ The battery life test suggests that on high it lasts around 3.5 hours. Now, my surefire 6PL gets 11 hours, but with harder to get and sometimes more expensive batteries.

Heres some pics I took I shined the beam on the wall from about 6 & 1/2 feet away (not very far but It helps a little).

In comparison with my Surefire 6PL 80 Lumens

Now from this distance you might think that the Surefire doesnt look all that great, but it does have an overall tighter beam and greater distance.

Here's a picture of the packaging so yall know what to look for.

Cost me $24. Definitely a good buy! I highly recommend it!

Nice write up. I have several of the AA minimag lights, and a couple of the AAA versions. But I prefer them with the stock non LED bulb, with the added tail cap push button. They make great grab and go lights.

The LED flashlights from Maglite are a great deal. I bought the 2 AA one a while back, and I have converted all my larger Maglites to LED with their upgrade units.

My only complaint, they need to bring out the LED units in all the colors. Gunmetal and Black are just too easy for me to lose, especially if it's dark out.

Cool thanks for the review.

I just had a buddy ask me for a flashlight recomendation in the $20 range. I'll add this to the list.

I heard from someone that they bought this flashlight in a pack with it and the 3 AA version for $28 at Costco. Thats a sweeet deal.

Yup, I think a friend of mine scored the same deal.

Love my LED Mini-Mag, simple, reliable, solid performer .

Never knew they made a multi-mode version.
