Mini-Manix or Ocelot?

Thinking of picking up another high-end production folder along with a couple of the new waved 4s, looking for a smaller folder. Nothing from BM at the moment that interests me, asides from maybe the 940 and the Rittergrip (have owned a 940 which I stupidly sold and a few Griptilians), so I'm looking through the newer Spyderco pieces.

Which one would you pick? I think I've handled/owned most of the Spyderco line at one point or another, but haven't handled these yet. I own a Manix and it's one of my favorite knives, but it's a bit large and heavy to EDC particularly in light clothing.

Have looked at the reviews in the Passaround forum, but each knife looks really good.

I EDC a 940 S30V (in my pocket as I type), and a Ritter Grip (RSK) is in my EDC backpack. Both are good blades. The 940 is great for pocket EDC.

The Mini-Manix is just a bit smaller than the Manix but has about the same thickness and width. It it still a rather heavy knife. Thickness and width of the Ocelot are considerably less. I prefer the Mini-Manix for its grip and ease of opening but it wouldn't be my first choice for light clothing. Out of these two the Ocelot may be more to your liking as it is still well made and useful knife.

From what you said, the Ocelot would much better suit what you want. The Manix 80mm is only a half inch off the blade end and the handle end compared to the full size, so it's still very much a big, heavy knife.

Ocelot seems like the no brainer to me.

I own both, by the way.

I've got both and am a huge fan of the mini-Manix, but based on your requirements, I'd buy the Ocelot, unless of course you're using it to clean game. The little paw prints would likely be a bit harder to keep clean.
