Spyderco lovers really have taken care of me. This one is one I've only done two others similar to and its probably one of my favorite mods.

Unlike other modifications to folders which are permanent no permanent changes to the knife will be made with this slab handle replacement set. The owner of this knife will have the option of going back and forth to the factory set up at will when done.

I'll be posting more to show it as it progresses and in the end take some nice digital pictures of it for the final. Thanks for looking

Band saw step to cut out the new slab handles next.

Well I also managed to start the mini Manix new slab handles today as well as the little Walker knife.

Seen here is the rough cut out of the new handles. Lots of tough a$$ grinding ahead yet on this one.

Today I got little done in the shop. I had doctors appointments and lab work for the morning early and then later, and finally an eye exam in the afternoon which were all fortunately close by for me to hop over to but as a result this is as far as I got on Derek's two knives I'm currently working on. I decided to get them both up to the finish stage at the same time and try to have them ready to ship home by early next week sometime this way.

Anyway, the Mini Manix is coming along. All holes are drilled, the pocket clip holes are threaded and now all I have to do is assemble and finish it out and then do the same with the Walker frame lock next day in the shop.

By the way, speaking of fine Spyderco locks.. Here is a shot of the lock up on this beauty. Now thats what I'm talking about!

Thanks for looking.

Yes for sure of that. The old liners and G10 combined measure .165 thick together. So those two sets x 2 = .330 then the spring holder spacer is .165 thick also. When all added together you have a total thickness not counting the clip, of .495 for the whole folder as it came from the factory.

The new titanium liners are .107 each x 2 = .214 thick on each side + .165 for the spacer which totals .379 for the new thickness not counting the clip.

So, overall its lost almost 1/8" thickness in these new liners. To be precise its .116 and .125 of course would be 1/8". Hope that fills in the blanks for ya. If not in other words it went from just shy of 1/2" thick to hovering around 3/8" in the new ti clothes.

Wow! Just realized this morning that I neglected to post this one up when done. I guess better late than never huh? I've had a lot going on lately what can I say? Sorry Derek. My bad there. Anyway, the final weight on this puppy is 5.7 ounces, compared to 5.5 ounces before the mod was done. Not a bad trade off actually.

I'm sure you are wondering so I'll tell you here. I did not mail this knife or the little Walker you sent me to redo out yet. They will go out to you as soon as I know you guys are home from vacation to be there to sign for them as you suggested in your email. Soon as I hear from you that you made it back safe and sound I'll get them out to you.

Thanks for looking and for the comments.
