New to the forum, but not new to Spyderco. Anyway, I been overseas the last 4 years and was wanting to purchase a Sypderco Mini Manix in plain edge only to discover Spyderco discontinued them. Why would they discontinue such a wonderful knife?

I undestand the Manix 2 replaced it after some research on the matter, but, does anyone know where to find an original Mini Manix besides the for sale forum, or is anyone have an extra and is willing to sell one?

Also, what is the closest thing to the Mini Manix which is currently in production if I have to go that route? Thanks in advance.

This is almost always due to poor sales figures. If a model doesn't do well after a year or so, it gets dropped or rebuilt from the ground up.
 
yep poor sales and itz gone,them the sh t hits the fan and price goes thru the roof,kinda good for sales............
 
I hope you find your Mini Manix tntxfour. I got one yesterday and really like it. I also have a Manix2 and find it to be a great knife and in some ways it has a more solid feel than the Mini Manix. Here are some shots of the two that may help you see how they are similar.

Hey Sal, I am still dumbfounded as to why this knife was discontinued! Bring it back! PLease.....
 
yeppers, I've seen some lightly used, PS go for about $100 on the bay lately
 
I am diligently watching the for sale forums and ebay. I knew I should have had my brother buy me one a couple of years ago! Anyway, thanks for all the replies and photos! Maybe someone on this forum will see this and have an extra for sale. Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed.
 
I also like the mini more than the manixII for a few reasons.

I got one on the sales forum here not long ago at a fair price. Keep looking and you'll find one before christmas.
 
I still like better the old one than the new Manix 2 - even the S90V+CF version. :)
(In my point of view the Mini Manix IS the best EDC folder I ever had. :thumbup:)

Golbat, wow I have never seen an orange one. Are those custom scales or was that a sprint run?

Loneriderzand and clockman, my bad, I should have indicated I am looking for a plain blade version, but thanks for replying.
 
The orange Mini Manix has custom scales. There was never a Sprint run Manix with orange G10.
 
If you can get the Manix 2 with CF handles, full flat grind and S90V steel you will have the best of both worlds in my opinion.

some don't like the lock, all that jimping, and the slightly thinner blade stock.
Or at least thats the reasons I like the mini manix much more than manix II.

Then again, many like all those things about the new version. So I'm glad Spyderco does mix it up alot, gives us alot to choose from, which is a great thing:thumbup:

You read my mind with this comment. Thanks for all the replies and especially the pictures posted in this thread. I think I have found a plain edge version and I am patiently waiting for its arrival.
