Could a 5/8 capacity after market chuck be put on one of the Grizzly/Harbor Freight mini mills? Would there be any reason not to if I could?

thanks in advance,

The Grizzly has a Morse #2 taper if memory serves me correctly. Just get a MT2-tapered chuck adapter for whatever taper your chuck is made for, and go for it. :)

Jeff, it's an MT3 taper on the Grizz. My question is whether the drawbar mechanism would be tolerant of the typical lug-ended chuck arbor or if a drawbar-compatible adapter is necessary??

I'm just asking, because I honestly don't know. :o

The taper is the same size whether it's lug-style or threaded. The worst-case scenario is that you'd have to grind the lug off and use the drawbar to knock it out when switching to a collet. No prob.

They recommend the Grizzly use up to 1/2 inch tooling. I have a Grizz and have many times used 3/4 inch mills and even a 2 1/2 inch facing mill. The thing with these light machines is chatter. Slow and shallow is the thing especially as the size of tooling increases.
